Q: What is your title?

A: My title is Account Executive, Small Business Division. But I’m not the typical Account Executive as my time is spent on managing activities department-wide, rather than focused on specific accounts.

Q: What are your responsibilities?

A: While a typical Account Executive manages the day-to-day activities of specific clients, I dabble a bit with all of the clients in our small business division. I do the proofing and editing for all messaging, blogs and newsletters within our division. I help manage one of our larger accounts and assist with a brand ambassador program that is in its 3rd year now. I create and maintain monthly reports for each client to track our effectiveness. I also work closely with accounting to make sure that all of our clients are billed for their monthly services and that their payments are received in a timely manner.

Q: Give us a little background. What brought you to Intermark and how did you get started in your current position?

A: After working for years in the hospitality industry as a Catering Sales Manager, I took a long break from working to be home with my children. Once they were older, I was approached by my sister in law who had started a small PR & Social Media Marketing agency and she asked me to come work for her and help her with projects and billing, etc. We were a virtual company, so I worked with her from home. After a couple of years, Intermark Group acquired her agency. In February 2013, we joined the Intermark team and became the Small Business Division.

Q: What’s your favorite part about what you do?

A: I have the best co-workers around! I love helping lead day-to-day tasks, projects and working with them as a team.

Q: What’s the most challenging part of your job?

A: Most of what I do in my job requires meticulous detail. I pride myself on being very detail-oriented, so this is the perfect job for me.

Q: Are you seeing any new trends in the media/marketing industry?

A: What I’ve seen change the most in my 5 years in the small business division is that while social media is vitally important to brands, the digital focus of marketing including email marketing, paid social advertising, digital advertising and animated content development continues to amaze me.

Q: Favorite quote/saying?

A: I’m NOT a fan of change, but at my age, I’ve certainly seen a lot of it! This one is easy to quote, but hard to live by. â€śDon’t cry because it’s over; smile because it happened.” –Dr. Seuss.

Q: Hobbies?

A: Any time that I get to spend with my family is my favorite time! I also love cooking, traveling and going to the movies.

Q: Family, pets?

A: I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 32 years. We have two children: Emily is 25 and is a social worker here in Birmingham and Patrick is 22 and is a senior at Auburn University. I am so blessed to still have both of my parents and they live just a couple of miles from me. We also have a very sweet Golden Retriever mix named Annabelle.

Q: What’s something that most people would be surprised to learn about you?

A: Last year on a very relaxing trip to the beach, I was hit in the head by a rogue beach umbrella and they had to call the beach patrol and take me to get staples in my scalp!

Q: What is the quote on your nameplate?

A: “To love another person is to see the face of God” – Victor Hugo.
